Deep East Texas Aggie Moms’ Club is a service organization that supports Texas A&M students and their parents. At our meetings and special events we learn more about the University from each other and from great guest speakers. We also raise funds to provide student scholarships and financial support to student organizations. Aggie Dads and friends are welcome at most of our events.
WHAT IS AN AGGIE MOMS’ CLUB
Howdy, Aggie Mom! The Longview area has an Aggie Moms’ Club, officially called the Deep East Texas A&M Mothers’ Club, which was established in 1975. Our club consists of approximately 40 Aggie Moms from all of the surrounding school districts…Longview, Pine Tree, Hallsville, Spring Hill, White Oak, Kilgore, Gladewater, and more! We are part of a much larger organization, the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club. At this time, there are 108 clubs across the country. The purpose of Aggie Moms’ organizations is to form connections with other women who are mothers of Aggies and are interested in supporting each other, our Aggies and Texas A&M University.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The Deep East Texas Mother’s Club is an active organization. Our meetings provide an opportunity to connect with Aggie Moms in our area, and to learn more about Texas A&M University. In past years, we have hosted representatives from student organizations such as the Yell Leaders, the Texas A&M Traditions Council and the Singing Cadets. We have had presentations from Andy Duffey of the Century Tree Project, and John Ball the “Walking Aggie”, both of whom are strong supporters of A&M students. Finally, we also have game nights, a Christmas party, and other fun opportunities to socialize.
One of our goals as a club is to raise money for student scholarships. We award two scholarships to incoming freshman Aggies, and two scholarships to current Aggies. In addition, we give the “Bobby Smith Memorial Scholarship” to a deserving engineering student. Our primary fundraiser is participation in the “Aggie Mom Boutique” during Family Weekend in College Station.
We also assemble and distribute care packages for our students the week before finals in the Fall and Spring. We join Aggie Mom groups from all over the state in the MSC to hand out the care packages to our students and encourage them as they approach finals week. It is a lot of fun to travel together as a group to deliver these packages to our students.
